A true minister of Christ is not an essayist, orator, lecturer or philosopher, but rather is an ambassador of Christ (2 Cor. 5:20) and a fisher of men (Matt. 4;19). His work primarily is not that of improving morals, elevating character, or rectifying social evils–instead his work is a saving work. As the Apostle Paul said, “Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel.” It is that gospel which is the power of God unto salvation, a gospel not dependent for its power on the enticing words of man’s wisdom, but upon the demonstration of the Spirit and His power.
